Monsoon is more or less everybody’s favorite season. We love everything about the monsoon; the rains, the rainbows, the sun, the wind and the trees. What we don’t seem to like much about the season is the distress it brings along for our skin and hair.

It’s July and the monsoon is officially here! Sailing in the same ship, we all are going through the most challenging time of the year. Monsoon is the season that sanctions us the responsibility of intense care for our hair and skin; which is exactly what we are dealing these days.

Worry not! Resort to these five easy hair care tips to continue looking good throughout this lovely season.

Dry Hair Is Happy Hair

We know you love to get drenched in the monsoon rains. But we dare to stop you from doing this. Since the rainwater is no more the purest form of water, it tends to be impure and acidic due to global warming. The rainwater is very unhealthy for your hair. So, it is highly suggested that you do not go in the rain without an umbrella or cap shielding your hair. Even if you get drenched, wash away the rainwater immediately.

Don’t leave your hair wet for long. Dry your hair right away and the right way. You can use a microfiber towel to dry your hair. As the fibers cause minimum friction between hair and towel, you are less likely to witness hair fall.

Clean Scalp Protects From Hair Problems

Keep your scalp clean with a deep conditioning shampoo. This is probably one of the best ways to protect your defenseless hair from dust and seasonal fungal infections. You can wash your hair two to three times a week. Do not forget to condition them with an anti-frizz conditioner to de-tangle hair easily. Use cold or lukewarm water for your hair bath. As a bonus tip, we advise you never to comb hair when they are wet since wet hair is prone to easy breakage. Also, tying the damp hair is a big NO!

Hair Nourishment Is Important

Since acute hair fall is the most common issue of this season, you would not want to leave your hair stranded at the time of need. Oiling your hair with hot oil twice or thrice a week may sound a little conventional, but trust us, it the best way to feed your hair with the necessary nutrients it needs to remain healthy in this season. It reinvigorates and moisturizes the scalp which is very important during this period.

Another method to keep your hair nourished is by applying a suitable conditioner after every wash. Proper conditioning the hair helps keep the necessary moisture intact and maintains hair smoothness. Please be noted that the conditioner should not be applied on the scalp. It is for the hair ends and the length.

Eating Healthy Keeps Hair Healthy

Intake of proper diet strengthens hair follicles. On the other hand, too much consumption of junk food leads to hair thinning. Now you know what you need to eat for the next two months at least. Eat fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains and protein-rich foods. You can include salmon, eggs, nuts, kidney beans and low-fat dairy products which are high in iron and protein in your diet. Spinach, carrots and dark green veggies are excellent for hair. The curd is high in vitamin D and prevents hair loss. Moreover, you should drink at least 8-12 glasses of water in a day.

You should also want to cut down on your caffeine intake if you care for your hair because it dehydrates and causes hair fall.

In this season, try not to keep your hair open for long. Open hair is more prone to dust, germs, fungus, and allergies. You can make a bun or braid your hair whenever you go out in uncertain weather. Keeping your hair intact protects it from damage as well as strengthens hair follicles. You can even accessorize with a scarf or hairband to protect your hair under uncontrolled conditions.
